How good is Jabari Smith actually and what is his spot on this team going forward?

Everybody has forgotten that Jabari Smith was a top 3 pick in the 2022 draft. I think that is because he honestly hasn’t been all that amazing. But I don’t watch Rockets games and I was hoping someone could put the stats to their correct contexts.

In his first season he started all 79 games he played and made All-Rookie second team. Not bad, but he shot 40% from the field and 30% from three averaging 13 ppg. But he still has a lot of potential to this point.

Fast forward to the next season, and he makes an improvement. He started all 76 games he played and shot career highs from the field and from three at 45% and 36% percent respectively. He did this averaging nearly 14 ppg. A lot of sophomores go through slumps, but he didn’t and it excited me.

He didn’t have a great year in the 24-25 season. He averaged 12 points on 43% from the field and 35% from three. He only played 57 games and only started 39 of them. So it sort of seems to me like at his peak he might average 15 ppg on 45/35/80 splits. Which is good, but for a 3rd overall pick I’m not sure if that would be a successful pick.

Obviously I’m clueless. I just wanted to know how good he really was. He’s a super interesting player.
