Ben Simmons full Game 7 post-game interview, revisited
Let me preface this by saying that this isn't necessarily a post defending Simmons. I think we all know his time here is up, one way or another. I just think we should remain objective when we're talking about the situation, which I think has been skewed over time, as various talking heads chime in and opinions start to snowball and get taken as fact.
[Here's the link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KT1IaAozLqQ) to Simmons' full, unedited post-game interview after the Game 7 loss.
A couple key things that I just want to highlight:
1. He is **obviously upset** by the loss. Recently it's become a common belief that Simmons simply doesn't care about basketball at all. I agree he certainly has less drive than other great players, but he evidently cares and was greatly upset by the loss.
1. He does **take accountability**. He says numerous times that he had a bad series and that he needs to keep working. The "I am who I am" soundbite is a single quote taken out of context, just like Embiid blaming the loss on Ben passing up a dunk is taken out of context.
My point is that you can argue that he doesn't have a drive to compete or doesn't strive to help the team based on his lack of development, sure, but I don't think that anyone can objectively argue that he flat out doesn't care or skirted any responsibility for the loss. I've seen many Sixers fans correcting others when taking Embiid's comments out of context. I think we should hold ourselves to the same standard when it comes to Simmons as well.
