Sonos + UniFi: Best Practices & Recommended Settings

We know a lot of Sonos users rely on Ubiquiti hardware for their networks, and we wanted to provide some recommended settings and best practices for using UniFi with your Sonos system.

This should help with configuring the network, troubleshooting issues with missing rooms or grouping failures, and what to consider for wired vs wireless setups.

* **Follow the Golden Rule:** where possible, all Sonos products should either be wired or wireless * **Fix your STP Settings:** If you have even one Sonos product wired to your UniFi switch, you likely need to switch from RSTP to STP and manually set your Root Bridge priority. This prevents the "broadcast storms" that knock controllers offline. * **Enable mDNS & IGMP Snooping:** If you find your speakers disappear from the app but are still playing music, these settings ensure the "discovery" packets from your phone actually reach the speakers.
