My Grandpa was hiding this time bomb in my house all these years.
Just a moment ago, my 80 year old grandfather took out his old Huawei Mate 9 and asked me what is wrong with it.
This is NOT his current smartphone. He has changed at least two phones since, currently using a modern Oppo Reno phone.
No one knew he was hiding this in MY house. We have a guest room just for grandparents whenever they come over and stay for long periods. I don't go through their personal belongings they left here.
When asked, he wanted to use this phone as a backup (still has his old data from many years ago) in case his current one dies.
Yeah I immediately reset the phone and tossed it. No, there is no proper e waste recycling here.
