Is the community ready for their ships and equipment to get nerfed?

Crafting is coming, and I couldn't be more excited. Actual progression, purpose behind existing professions and loot to get excited over will add so much to this game.

We know that ships and equipment will be upgradeable from T1-T3/5, and this will affect raw stats (e.g. damage) but also the chance of misfire/malfunction (another upcoming feature).

But when I look at the current state of ships, weapons etc. - a lot of them feel pretty good. Guns that are powerful, reliable and mostly accurate. Ships that can turn on a dime and dish out unholy damage. These don't feel like T1 to me, ships for example maybe around T3? As in there's room to buff them, but also to nerf.

How's the community (that perhaps doesn't follow development as closely as people here) going to react when their pledged ships are suddenly nerfed to match T1 quality, in order to create the room to upgrade them by 4 tiers.

I'm expecting it's going to piss a lot of people off. Personally, I know such a change will be good for the game long-term. What do you guys think?
