I thought St Paddy's day would be no big deal. Boy was I wrong.

I've been talking about this weekend for the last two weeks with my sponsor and my wife, thinking it would be just like any other day of not drinking. Boy was I wrong. The obsession hit me like ton of bricks this afternoon. I'm a cook and have been preparing corned beef for two days now and served it for lunch today. I played Flogging Molly during my clean up to be festive still thinking it would be no biggie. The closer I got to getting off work, the stronger the Jameson's urge got. It took me by surprise. Through 6 and a half months of sobriety the holidays weren't all that triggering until now. So here I am, opening up about it. I talked to my sponsor again after work. That helped. My wife is going to stay sober with me in support. So basically I'm trying to stack the deck in my favor. Let's all help keep each other sober this weekend! I will not drink with you tonight! Or tomorrow!
