My Body Knows Best

It’s been a while for a lot of things. It’s been over a year since I’ve worked. It’s been 10 months since I broke my back. Its been 7 months sober. Its been weeks since I’ve had real human contact. It’s been 45 days since I’ve had any money.

Today a friend sent me some money for food and in a moment of disparity but joy of having cash my brain thought “why not get a little drunk, could be fun.”

Before finishing the thought my stomach turned, face instantly went sour like I ate a lemon whole and I felt instant guilt of even thinking to use that generosity on poison.

I’m thankful and grateful for keeping my sobriety but more so that my mind and body, who once literally needed the drink to survive from how deep I was in, are now on my sober side too.

Cheers to everyone out there doing their best to be better. *sips chocolate almond juice*
