2006 Outback p0026 or p0028
I just went through this with a 2006 Outback; both switches were leaking. The replacement switches were about $12 each on Amazon, or $30 each at O'Reilley's.
For p0028 (left side) or p0026 (right side), the problem is more often the oil pressure switches located next to the VVT solenoids. Start by pulling the connector out of the switch (you have to press in the little tab). If you see oil down around the connector pin, or around the crimp between the metal and plastic parts of the switch, it's either dead or dying.
To replace the switch, use a 15/16" (24mm) socket on a long extension to unscrew the old one. Apply PTFE paste to the threads of the new switch (it's a tapered thread that requires sealant), and screw it in hand tight. When you're certain it's not cross-threaded, give it another quarter to half turn with the socket. Reconnect the wire, and you're done.
