Worth it to repair?

I'm looking at buying a 2012 5-speed Subaru Impreza AWD with 95k mi.

Brakes and some suspension work have been done. I don't know the history as far as head gasket or piston rings.

Would it be worth it to buy the car for $7k and then do the head gasket, Piston rings, timing/water pump, etc...?

Probably another $4k-$5k in maintenance.

I hear they're slow and they burn oil. But I care about convenience, MPG, traction... And I suppose that's it.

Worth it?
