How to launch in vr EGS

I've been trying to launch subnautica with vr using the quest 3. Looking at guides they say it should run as vr automatically which it doesn't, or to click the cog and press run as vr, which doesn't appear for me. It just launches as a remote desktop window with kb+m controls. I have tried adding it as a non steam game on steam then adding -vr as a launch option with steamvr which also does the same
