April Experiment Update
Hey all! I’ve written in this forum before about how I’m treating my sugar free journey as a series of experiments, usually a month at a time. This month, I did ok I think. I was kind of off the wagon for several days at the beginning of the month, then climbed back on when I got home on the 10th. I’ve mostly done very well avoiding added sugar since then, though I went out to eat twice this weekend and can tell that eating some pizza crust (with a low sugar sauce) and pita bread kicked up some cravings. I spent all day today wanting ice cream! I didn’t have any, but instead decided that I will go get one of my favorite desserts sometime this week as a treat, and get back into a may experiment.
I’m finding that I don’t have huge cravings very often anymore, and I’m getting much better about the mindset of “I don’t really eat sugar.” I like that this stance makes day-to-day decisions easier.
I haven’t decided if I will be adding any other aspects to my May experiment. I’m considering either Diet Coke reduction or bread/pasta adjacent foods elimination but I will see how I feel about that in a couple of days. May has a lot of stressors for me, so I’m not sure I want to add more.
