Went on a David Mitchell binge after finishing Utopia Avenue. Would really appreciate suggestions from anyone with similar tastes!

Been in a kind of fiction slump for the past few years. I used to love exploring books and genres, but I’ve recently just been waiting on new releases from my go-to’s.

Utopia Avenue reminded me of that exhilarating “just one more chapter” feeling, and it inspired me to re-read all his past novels. Hoping to expand my horizons and discover authors that get me excited about fiction again!

I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by Kazuo Ishiguro, Cormac McCarthy and Tana French. My all-time favorite novel is Jose Saramago’s Blindness.

Stories with Sci-fi/horror/mystery elements appeal to me, but I’m pretty open when it comes to genre (I preferred Remains of the Day to Never Let Me Go, and Pride & Prejudice is in my top 5). I did like Sharp Objects and Gone Girl, but found similarly written books like Girl on the Train and In The Deep Dark Woods entirely forgettable.

Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to comment!
