Books about commando operations, with logistical details?

I realize this is a bit of an odd request...

As a (sheltered) teenager I read Frederick Forsyth's *The Dogs of War* and loved it. It's about a mercenary who gets hired to stage a coup d'etat in a small African nation by a greedy capitalist who wants to mine their platinum. The cool thing about this book is that it describes in great detail the preparations that go into the operation. How they buy the guns, boats, uniforms, and supplies, the elaborate arrangements with Swiss banks to keep the money untraceable, etc.

The problem is that I recently tried to reread it and realized that it's horribly racist and not a little sexist. Black characters are basically animals, even the ones with names, and there are approximately 2 female characters, both ditzy nymphomaniac "models" (who are also described as being super young, so ew.)

So, could anyone recommend a book that is similar in subject but a little more enlightened about humanity?

TIA
