My opinion on best bans for current meta

Today I saw [this post](http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/34n7wg/sejuani_has_a_9195_ban_rate_and_a_54_win_rate/) on /r/leagueoflegends talking about how OP Sejuani is which got me to thinking on what the best bans are in the current meta.

This is a function of 3 things (2, really) - The champion's pick and ban rate (Which combine make the variable of how often a champion is picked when not banned) and the champion's win rate.

Basically you want to ban the champions with high winrates who are picked often.

I pulled data from http://champion.gg/statistics/# (which includes platinum+ only) to get the winrate and pick/ban rate numbers.

My function for defining how "Good" a champion is to ban is the following:

(Pick%/(1-Ban%))*(Win%-0.5)/(1-Win%)

A higher score is better. The "(Win%-0.5)" term means any champion with under a 50% winrate will get a negative score. Don't ban champions with under a 50% winrate!. The "/(1-Win%)" skews things more to banning the very high winrated champs - if a champ had a 100% winrate this term would make their score infinity because you would certainly always want to ban them! The "(Pick%/(1-Ban%))" term is a simple reflection of how likely the champion is to be picked when not banned.

If I were to separate the results in tiers, Sejuani is alone on the "God tier", next is Jinx alone on the "Demigod tier", then next is Janna & Riven who share the "Kinky Angels tier" and finally Amumu, Katarina, Ahri, Sivir, Gragas, Leona, Vayne & Nunu share the "Eh you might as well ban one of us tier" (All other champions are on the "we're not good bans" tier).

When it is your turn to ban I recommend you say all the champions you are planning on Banning, to give anyone who wants to play one the opportunity to speak up. I also recommend banning the 3rd highest champ on the list 1st, the 2nd 2nd and the 1st 3rd, as this gives the opponent chances to make your bans for you.

I find this ban ranking interesting because it highlights several strong champions who are seldom banned and really ought to be (Janna!).

Remember though that the data was taken from plat+ games and so may not be accurate in bronze/silver. If people want I can try to make a list for bronze/silver too.
