Which side of the ring gear faces up on the Jura Capresso C series brew group?

I've been looking everywhere for a guide on this but the only info I can find is that it *IS* important which way it faces, and some teardowns mention writing TOP on one end during disassembly to tell them apart... but I didn't do that... and none of the guides mention how to actually tell from the molding, nor do any of the ones that mention labeling them include clear pictures of which side they've written TOP on.

I'm attaching 2 pictures, I'll call them Side A and Side B for lack of anything better...

[Side A](https://i.imgur.com/2PcA0J0.jpeg) has the ends of the worm gear cut flat or slightly undercut as you can see. It also has mold injection marks on some of the spokes, although that could simply be a tooling thing not unique to one side but to a batch or something...

[Side B](https://i.imgur.com/0fqrcqN.jpeg) has what looks like 4 machine indexing notches spaced around the perimeter of the inner ring.

Guides say if you put it on backwards, it won't move or home properly... but assembling it either way and turning it by hand it doesn't seem to bind anywhere in either orientation that I can tell... after rebuilding it the first time I put the side with the notches (Side B) facing up and it didn't seem to bind but it did make concerning noises (similar to the noises it made before I took it apart, anyway... but there's no guarantee the previous owner didn't put it back together wrong too.) and the new seals failed and it dumped the grounds... which I think was just the fault of poor aftermarket seals but I can't be sure. Taking it apart is a pain and I don't want to have to do this a third and fourth time now, so how can I tell which side is supposed to face up?
