Should I buy Superhot or Mind Control Delete

The only Superhot game I've played is Superhot vr on ps4 (fucking amazing). I wanna try the other games but don't know the difference. I would assume that Mind Control Delete being a sequel would have improvements / more content, but from reading around it sounds like a lot of people prefer the original. Is the original really that much better?

edit: thanks to everyone for replying. I ended up getting both since they were both on sale on steam, but I'll play the original first
