New player with question on voice chat

Hello.

I decided to try Supervive earlier today, and while I haven't gotten to play PVP modes yet (still doing bot games) I'm having a fair bit of fun. However, I noticed that Supervive has voice chat, and want to ask the community about it before I jump into PVP.

Is there a culture within the game that you need to use voice chat in PVP? I've never played a competitive multiplayer game with voice chat (the closest I got was text chat in League of Legends), and I don't want to disturb other people in my household. However, I also don't want people to blame me for not being comfortable with voice chat, at least at low-mid levels and especially during losses, and I want some input from the community as to whether it's ok to not use voice chat, assuming I'm still doing my best to support my team and help them win.
