How to seal conduit to the pool light niche

I am replacing my concrete deck. The contractor did not understand how the conduit had to seal to the wet niche and he just jerked it loose. How do I attach new conduit to the niche? Does the pvc conduit go into the female opening with some special adhesive? I’m not sure what the standard way is to get a waterproof connection.
