Okay, playing SWTOR with a Steam Controller is awesome :)

Thanks to /u/pinkdinosauronbowtie and [this guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/swtor/comments/3yjs12/guide_how_to_use_steam_controller_with_swtor/) as well as /u/birdmeat and [this guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamController/comments/3yjpjc/configurationswtormmo_config/) I'm now fully up and running with a Steam Controller for SWTOR. And I **love** it!

With my rig, I can now play on either my monitor or on the TV, and I can control the game either with KB+mouse or with the Steam Controller (or a mix). I don't have to change bindings in-game or anything.

The controller plays like a dream. I have 48 hotbar keys bound, as well as binds for everything from camera movement, to mousewheel scrolling, to all of my UI panes (eg Character, Inventory, Mission Log, Stronghold, Abilities, Crew Skills, Companions, Social, Guild, and every other pane in the game).

I can actually access all of my hotkeys and abilities more easily on the controller (quick finger and thumb taps) than on my kb+mouse, because everything is within super easy reach! So far, I experience less hand and wrist strain as well. :D

This controller is freaking amazing. :) It players really well with SWTOR. If you have been curious, I highly recommend trying it out!

Here is my SWTOR config:

* **Left Grip:** Ctrl * **Right Grip:** Alt * **Left Trigger:** * Full Press: Shift * Soft Press: Mouse Left-Click * **Right Trigger:** * Soft Press: modeshift for several controller inputs (see above) * Full press: Mouse Right-Click * **Thumbstick:** * Movement (forward, back, left strafe, right strafe) * Click: Jump * Ctrl (Left Grip) + Up: Auto-Run * Modeshift (Right Grip) + Down, Left, Up, Right: Sit, Draw Weapon, Follow-target, Mount flourish (respectively) * **Face Buttons (A, B, X, Y):** * Hotbar 1, abilities 1-4 * Modeshift (Right Trigger Soft Press): Hotbar 1, abilities 5-8 * Shift (Left Trigger Full Press) + Face Button: Hotbar 2, abilities 1-4 * Shift (Left Trigger Full Press) + Modeshift (Right Trigger Full Press) Face Button: Hotbar 2, abilities 5-8 * Ctrl (Left Grip) + Face Button: Hotbar 3, abilities 1-4 * Ctrl (Left Grip) + Modeshift (Right Trigger Soft Press) Face Button: Hotbar 3, abilities 5-8 * Alt (Right Grip) + Face Button: Hotbar 4, abilities 1-4 * Alt (Right Grip) + Modeshift (Right Trigger Soft Press) Face Button: Hotbar 4, abilities 5-8 * Ctrl (Left Grip) + Shift (Left Trigger Full Press) + Face Button: Temporary Abilities Bar 1-4 (eg Heroic Moment abilities from Legacy) * Ctrl (Left Grip) + Shift (Left Trigger Full Press) + Modeshift (Right Trigger Soft Press) + Face Buttons: Temporary Abilities Bar 5-8 * **Left track pad:** * D-pad 4 directions: Hotbar 1, abilities 9-12 * Shift (Left Trigger Full Press) + D-pad 4 directions: Hotbar 2, abilities 9-12 * Ctrl (Left Pad) + D-pad 4 directions: Hotbar 3, abilities 9-12 * Alt (Right Pad) + D-pad 4 directions: Hotbar 4, abilities 9-12 * Modeshift (Right Trigger Soft Press) D-pad 4 directions: Menu UI hotkeys (Character, Inventory, Abilities, Mission Log) * Modeshift + Shift (Left Trigger Full Press) + D-pad 4 directions: Menu UI hotkeys 2 (Map, Stronghold, Crew Skills, Legacy) * Modeshift + Shift (Left Trigger Full Press) + Ctrl (Left Pad) + D-pad 4 directions: Menu UI hotkeys 3 (Companions, Guild, etc) * **Right Track Pad:** * Mouse cursor * Mouse-Left-Click (Left Trigger Soft Press) + Right Track Pad: Camera look * Mouse-Right-Click (Right Trigger Soft Press) + Right Track Pad: Character look/direction * Modeshift (Right Pad) + Right Track Pad: Mousewheel, zoom in and out. * **Left Bumper:** * Target previous enemy * Shift (Left Trigger Full Press) + Left Bumper: Target previous friend * **Right Bumper:** * Target next enemy * Shift (Left Trigger Full Press) + Right Bumper: Target next friend

And that's it!

This gives me:

* The right track pad as all things mouse and camera: mouse cursor, character look/direction, camera look, zooming * 48 hotbar keys, all within a thumb's reach, via face buttons + left trackpad/d-pad. (This could be extended to fill all 6 hotbars by adding ctrl, shift, alt combos to the mix, but for me 48 hotbar abilities is alright.) * 8 temporary action bar hotkeys via face buttons * 12 UI panes bound to a hotkey. * Full targeting of friends and enemies. * Jump, autorun, and everything else I use all with easy control! * Follow target, weapon draw, sit, and mount flourish for kicks

It's pretty cool. I'm having a blast with this set-up! :D
