Where do you buy eyewear?

I'm pretty stoked that Australia will let me use my super-expired prescription to get some new glasses... but I can't find a cool shop that sells affordable frames. Every place seems to be designer or bust. In America, we have cool places that copy designer frames and sell them for cheaper. Do places like that exist here? Where can I buy some cool glasses without spending $400 in this city?
