NAS Noob - Need some advice on VM's and data reads

Hello,

I am comfortable with use of computers and data storage but have not used a NAS before. I am looking at the idea of purchasing the DS1522+. Can someone advise me on use of this NAS as a server for VM's or 4K movies? What type of RAID works best for this type of system?

Will 4K movies play seamlessly if stored on this NAS or do I need to do some upgrades? I would mainly run my Virtual Machines on my local PC, but might like to run one occasionally right on the NAS without having to copy it to a local drive.

I found a Network Upgrade Module for a 10 GbE RJ-45. My primary PC already has a 10 Gb port. Would this provide any improvement other than for data copying?

The base model only has 8 Gb of memory. Should I consider doing an upgrade if it becomes a Host for movies and VM's?

Thanks for any advice.
