Synology Drive Sync with custom folder icons

I'm using Synology Drive Sync to backup a ton of files from my parents host. some folders have been changed to use custom folder icons. The custom icons are default windows ones. I've noticed that drive sync won't sync these folders. If I remove the custom icon it will. Anybody else come across this?
