Rookie move, data loss, plz halp!
So long story short, I lost all my data, hopefully not forever
Just got a new Synology. Planned to migrate from a single USB drive. Due to an unfortunate sequence of events I'm unable to access any of the data.
Originally I had added 2 drives to the NAS. One as a single SHR, the other as Basic.
I copied all the data from the USB to the basic drive. Then planned to add the USB drive to the SHR array.
Due to the USB drive being smaller than the only SHR, i realized I had to start the SHR array with the USB drive.
I removed all the drives from the NAS. Then added back the USB drive (removed from the original case). Reinstalled DSM on that original USB drive, then added a second empty drive to that array.
Now comes the bad part. I re-inserted what I thought was the Basic Volume with the backed up files. However, the drive wont mount and is showing as Not Initialized.
I've tried several things I've seen online, with minimal luck (I'll post them as a comment here in a bit)
*Is there any way to recover this data?*
**Can anyone explain where I went wrong and why this failed to work as I expected?**
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)
