LumiKeys: Kickstarter Beta hardware problems: Pt. 2.
For Christmas, I bought a pair of Lumikey Blocks from Roli when they had them on sale. When I first got them, one of them was acting weird, so I did a factory reset and everything was fine. A few days later, I learned of a glaring problem with the battery charging system: It doesn't charge the battery. Their FAQ claims its charging the battery, its just the indicator thats wrong, but "We highly recommend you keep them plugged in as much as possible." Thats because once the battery indicator reaches flashing red, they won't power on unless they're plugged into a high amperage power brick, making the USB port useless.
So, I sent a trouble ticket in to Roli letting them know that I have this problem that looks like the one they talk about, except that the keys don't actually charge, and they replied by sending me a $50\* coupon to spend in their online store, and assured me they had a fix coming out Any Day, and my 30 day return window would not start until after the fix was out. Well, I tried dealing with them (put them in a carrying case, and placed them on a high shelf for a week) and finally decided if I'm beta testing hardware, I'm getting paid to do it, not the other way around and have opened a return.
I figure I can either use the money on something useful like a Hydrasynth exploder, or a 20 year old StudioLogic/Fatar controller and a dozen eggs.

\*(The cheapest item they have in their store is either a lumikeys case for $70, or a softsynth for $70)
