How to deal with Name changes?

Over the years I've had to deal with a lot of "I got married and changed my last name" requests, and those usually don't get much friction if for example you push the update and it still shows the wrong last name in some places for a while.

But the situation I'm up against is we have a trans woman who doesn't want to see her dead name anymore. I'm trying to accomplish this for her, but I'm up against a few factors that are making it a little irritating to deal with.

So for example, cached exchange mode. Even after telling it to download the offline address book again, the name doesn't properly update. And Exchange and Teams admin centers, new name shows up when referencing the online GAL, but client-side the old name and new name often show up at the same time depending on which viewport you're opening.

Am I gonna have to nuke offline OABs and force cache resets?

And this does seem like a lot of unnecessary effort, but it is a very important and personal issue to her and I'd like to accommodate her wishes.
