Why the hate on FortiGate?

Seriously though, I see a lot of slamming on FortiGate FWs. I have some where I work, I keep them patched and tuned and they seem to work really well.

Did I miss something and should I not be using them.

I had 2 different brands of firewall in active passive HA prior and both failed to correctly fail over in testing. Hours and hours spent over months and months and I finally tried to fortigates.

Anyways what can you all tell me about why they get the hate and or if you like them?

Edid/update: Honestly after looking at everybody's love and hate, I think the conclusion I've come to is every problem any of us have ever had with any firewall from any vendor, someone else has had that exact same problem with nearly every other firewall from every other vendor.

It's just a matter about time and placement and which patcher on and what environment you're in and how lucky you were on that given day.

This was a fun exercise and I'm glad I asked the question I got a lot of good insights and information.

I'm certainly not going to abdicate that Forti gate is the best, but I feel like everyone should just choose whichever product meets their needs within the budgets they have and they'll probably be fine as long as they keep them patched and updated.
