Newbie question that I'm having trouble finding an answer for, Endpoint backups.

Hey Sysadmins,

I'm pretty green and recently ran into an issue I was able to resolve but left me with some questions.

A user had stored important documents on their desktop, and possible other local places on their machine. Well when their laptop died, I was wondering why we did not have any backups of desktops, documents, etc for office machines.

The obvious answer here is they should store their important files on their network drives they are all given. But people will be people and store important documents on their desktop forever, so I'm looking for a simple backup solution that can be applied to a small group of users.

We have a hybrid joined environment, so any options for Active Directory or Entra ID are on the table. Their devices are also enrolled in Intune if there are any options there.

Apologies for the rookie question here, I'm sure there are some good google results for this but I can't seem to wade through the trash and ads to find the right answer.

Thank you for any help!

Edit:

Thank you for all the help guys,

I'll look into a one drive backed up by Veeam solution.
