Copy all files in a CIFS Share to Another CIFS Share - Newest File First?
I need to copy all files and directories within a CIFS Share to another CIFS Share, however I have to do it by newest file first. We have a share on a SAN that we are migrating to another SAN, and one of the shares has about 100TB and 100,000+ files to copy of video archive data. I realize this is going to take forever, but the video software has a retention and purges data after so many days. So the idea is to start the copy with the newest files first, and eventually just stop the script once the retention is hit to avoid copying old data (which could 10's of TB by the time copy and retention catch up to each other) thus saving a lot of time.
This seems like such an easy thing to do, yet I just can't figure it out or find a script to do it. Robocopy can't do it, it can only do it by Mix or Max Age, but won't specify the order it copies those files in. I've seen examples of the forfiles command, but it doesn't seem to work either.
Anybody have any ideas or examples on how to do this? Or should I just try to do multiple copies utilizing Robocopy's Min/Max age settings?
