I know 5 years isn't enough for some. Why not encourage me to improve and learn?

I just got off the phone with a newish employee who has more years under his belt with different companies etc and I was informed that because I haven't been in IT for 20 years I should expect my projects to get zero traction.

So let me get this straight, I'm the bottom of the barrel, too young, and therefore inexperienced. Telling me this information doesn't make me want to stay, in fact I'd rather leave to get mentored somewhere else and to focus more attention to cloud technology and to manage on-premise.

Sorry for the rant, I'm a bit peeved with my conversation and I'm already getting interviews setup to move on. If there is anyone out there who does not encourage growth and opportunity for the younger generation (like 30 year old me) don't expect them to stick around too long.
