APC ATS AP4450 - no surge protection?

Was looking at installing one of these at a smaller site that just has a single APS UPS. Thought was the ATS would plug into the UPS and a wall outlet. My reasoning: none of the networking equipment on site has duel power inputs. So with all the APS UPS updates lately the whole site has to come down do to the updates. I figured an ATS would help.

However, reading over the info on the AP4450 it doesn't seem to have any surge protection. Am I reading that correctly? If so, this makes me hesitant to put one in.
