Documentation is such an important habit but there are little to no examples showing HOW to format or even do documentation. How would you explain or demonstrate your method of documentation?
Company is slowly expanding into a new location. The facility is huge and has been vacant for a few years now but still maintained (to an extent).
Thankfully some of the guys from the previous IT team were nice enough to provide any and all of their documentation. I still have a lot to go through but I was immediately impressed by not just WHAT they documented but HOW they documented it.
This made me realize that while it is widely agreed that documentation is critical it has never been anything I've been taught or even shown how to do. Several times over the years I've felt there were better ways I could be doing my documentation but when trying to research methods or templates I would get nowhere.
Obviously there is the catch that to show how you format and do your documentation you would have to either censor all of your actual data or take the time to input dummy data. Curious to see how you guys are able to explain or even demonstrate HOW you do your documentation.
^(PS - Drink every time I said "documentation")
