What's with the recent spate of Mancala variants on the Workshop?

In the last couple of weeks, I had a pretty good chuckle that there were between six and ten Tellstones mods that dropped within 24 hours of the rules being released. Heh, thirsty people, amirite?

Well, just as many Mancala mods hit the Workshop in the last week, but this time I don't have a likely proximate cause. Does anyone know what's going on with that, why Mancala variants would suddenly be the thing? I searched this sub for Mancala and got nothing but you know how dodgy the search can be.
