Housing contract after a year

Was unclear about my housing contract. It’s been over a year and I notified the land lord that I’d be staying(I assumed I would need to sign another leasing contract), however, it appears I don’t. Does this mean I can choose to relocate at anytime and still get my deposit now that I completed the year? My contract doesn’t specify and says stuff like when the contract is terminated or concluded but does a year being passed mean the contract is null and void?
