Springtails for Cleanup

Does anyone use Springtails for tarantula container and feeder container cleanup? I need some advise on the water. Some videos recommend distilled water. All of it is sold out at my local grocery stores and drug stores. I'm about to try Walmart as my last gasp. Amazon has distilled water but you have to buy a whole case on what I could find. I did find distilled water with electrolytes for taste but it has some chemicals in the ingredients list. What do you use?

Do the springtails help you enough to get rid of those tiny black flies that occasionally show up? I didn't have any until the last heat wave. My biggest battle has been to keep them gone in my cricket community.
