Issue with Bluetooth connection profile

I had a profile to set my media volume to 10/0 when a Bluetooth device connected/disconnected. For months this was working great and would enable/disable media volume automatically. For whatever reason this has recently (in the last week) started triggering constantly, such that any manual changes to media volume are overridden in a few seconds.

I've tried to fix this by storing a flag to force this action to only trigger once, but this has just caused the media volume to oscillate between the two values every few seconds.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
