Filing form 8829 as a remote employee
I am a remote employee for a large company, and there is no satellite office close enough to commute, so I do 100% of my work from home. I went through the worksheet in Pub 587 which indicated I could take the deduction. The problem I'm having is specifically on line 8 of form 8829. It's asking for an amount from Schedule C, but it seems to assume that I'm filing 8829 for my own personal business. Would I just enter 0 for this line since I'm just an employee and it's not my business and thus have no profit/loss?
Edit: After some more brief research, it appears that as a simple remote employee I may not be able to use 8829 and Schedule C, but instead include any expenses on Schedule A (which will then use the dreaded 2% thingy). Any confirmation on this would be helpful. Thanks!
