Is my DSG automatic ruined/where to go from here
edit: 2011 Jetta Sportwagen with 89k miles for reference
Hi so I’ve been dealing with this chattering noise that some months ago I’ve identified to be the DMF. It had some chipped teeth that would cause and inconsistent chatter while the car warmed up, and usually once warm it would shift perfectly fine and stop making the noise.
Now I’d don’t have 3 grand for a new clutch/flywheel so I didn’t fix it, now were here and the car warming up does not stop the chatter, and the car is started to have issues shifting and lurching.
Does this mean now that my entire trans is compromised? I bought it at 71k and did the transmission service, but I’m afraid the previous owner never did and that’s why I’m having this issue. Is it possible since now I’m having issues shifting, my DMF isn’t just chipped up, but also the thing it connects to is dead and I’ll need a whole new trans? I had planned on replacing the clutch and flywheel with Kerma TDI parts but not if my transmission is already screwed
Also from a financial standpoint, any tips for getting out of this car/situation as a broke college kid. I was told it could be possible to use my car as a sorta “down payment” at another dealer where they could buy me out and take what I owe on this thing and put that on top of my new car? I just have no idea how to pay off what I owe (or get it fixed if that’s the most reasonable option) without some form of transportation.
