reviewing an exceptional 2010 Fu zhuan (hei cha)

This reviews an amazing version of Fu zhuan, my overall favorite type of hei cha, that's probably the best example of that type I've yet to try. It's so good. The flavor list description doesn't do it justice, but it did taste like fresh rye bread, caramel, beeswax, spice range that transitioned from nutmeg to sandalwood, and warm mineral. The golden flowers (fungus) input tends to taste a bit like yeast, typically, and in this. The feel was just as rich and pleasant, with a really nice aftertaste expression.

Even though the description doesn't do it justice this goes on and on, in an attempt. This vendor, Oriental Leaf, is based in China; it makes sense that they would have access to a broader range of versions than most others.

For people here who would like to explore the type, but not spend top shelf sort of expense, you can try ordinary versions of this tea type from lots of sources at relatively low cost (King Tea Mall, Yunnan Sourcing, Chawang Shop). Or this vendor sells pretty good versions at the next cost level down, mentioned in this review. I think sampling across the most ordinary range is a good place to start though, the opposite of this tea version.
