Power Notes?

EDIT: thanks to u/LeosPillow I googled with teaching resource and found [this](http://www.adlit.org/strategies/22370/)

I’m trying to find a resource for a style of note taking two of my elementary teachers taught me. They called it “power notes.” It was a really effective way of organizing information for essays and presentations based off of numbers.

| |1) topic |. 2) sub topic |. 3) fact |. 3) fact I . 4) detail |. 3) fact |. 2) sub topic |. 3) fact |. 3) fact |. 3) fact |. 2) sub topic |. 3) fact |. 3) fact |. 4) detail |. 3) fact

In practice it would looks like

|.1) horses |. 2) habitat |. 3) farms |. 4) grassy paddocks |. 4) stalls |. 4) range land |. 3) grassy deserts |. 3) steppes in Asia |. 2) diet |. 3) grasses |. 3) hay |. 3) grain |. 4) supplemented for horses in work |. 2) why people keep horses |. 3) heavy work |. 4) farming |. 4) logging |. 4) driving carts and carriages |. 3) competition |. 4) English |. 5) eventing |. 5) dressage |. 5) hunter/jumper |. 4) western |. 5) pleasure |. 5) rodeo |. 3) farm work |. 4) cattle drives |. 4) sorting cows |. 3) pets |. 4) pleasure riding |. 4) trail riding

Then it assembles into a basic essay

Horses

Lots of people keep horses. When you own a horse you need to plan for their housing, feed and understand why want one in the first place.

Horses are found on farms around the world. They are kept either in stalls or pens with access to grassy paddocks. Some people with lots of space keep their horses on range land. Horses can be found in the wild in grassland deserts and the steppes of Asia.

Horses primarily eat grass. Horses kept on farms are often fed dried grass called hay. When a horse works very hard they often need grain as well.

There are lots of reasons to keep horses. Some people use them for heavy work like ploughing, skidding logs or pulling wagons. Some people ride horses in competitions. In English seat a horse and rider can compete in eventing, hunter/jumpers or dressage. In western seat riders con compete in either pleasure classes or rodeos. Some people choose not to compete and keep their horses as pets, they go for trail rides and do pleasurable arena riding.

Horses make wonderful pets and teammates provided you provide them with the right environment to live in, food to eat and a job they like.

A very crude but hopefully clear example. I run programming for teens with cognitive disabilities and have so many kids, and parents, reach out for support writing essays. I would love to find a really clear write up of this style of note organization to show my employees and the families we support.
