How to properly open/consolidate Google Drive Takeout zip export?

I was forced to download all of my Google Drive from its original account because my college ended its alumni support for Drive. I ended up with 2 takeout zip files of around 50GB each. I am on Mac, and when I extract each zip file I end up with a mishmash of real files, .json files, more zipped filed, etc., and I really just want to get everything back in order so I can upload to my new Google Drive.

How am I supposed to be tackling the proper extraction of these files? I'm worried about losing files I've had for 10+ years because I can't find the best way to get everything extracted properly, and surprisingly, have not had much success Googling the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.
