Laptop dies after unplugging after extended sleep mode

Whenever I unplug my laptop after it’s been asleep all night, it’ll immediately die. I know it’s not the battery because later in the day when I unplug it, the battery is fine and it doesn’t die. It only seems to die when I unplug it in the morning.
