Wireless Computers on Network Unable to Communicate with Printer after Network Outage.
Hey techsupport, I've got a very bizarre situation.
The network at my office died yesterday, and after thirty minutes of finagling, we were able to bring it back online. Now I've got a problem I've never encountered before. The computers connected to the network wirelessly have stopped communicating with one of the printers, specifically, a Brother MFC-8690DW. The wired computers have no problems at all. The internet works on every computer.
After checking around, I've come across a couple of issues that may be causing this, but I don't know how to proceed.
The IP for the printer via wired is 169.254.207.119, and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. The gateway is 0.0.0.0.
The WLAN was disconnected on the printer, so I turned it back on. Everything was set to 0.0.0.0, so I checked how the wireless computers had been connecting with the printer previously. The IP address they had for the printer was 192.168.1.64, the subnet mask was 255.255.255.0, and the gateway was 192.168.1.254.
I switched the settings on the printer to reflect these settings, and the computers still can't communicate with the printer. I checked the IP allocation on my router to see if the printer appears, and I don't see it at all (neither wired, nor wireless).
I'm at a loss how to proceed, and I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you guys can give!
Edit: Without doing anything, the wired network settings turned off on the printer and the wired computers were no longer able to print. After turning it back on, they can print again. I'm at a complete loss as to why this would have happened.
