Office 365 Mail Send Throttling and Temporarily disabling a Mailbox sending capabilities.

Hey techsupport,

Recently had a co-worker fall for a phishing attempt, despite just being educated on phishing attempts of course. His email ended up compromised and sending out junk to 500+ people.

Unfortunately a vast majority of these people were part of other companies or even clients.....

SO, I know there's only so much we can to to minimize problems of the BKAC nature. But there must be a way to minimize the damage, right?

All these messages were sent within minutes of each other, so I was thinking maybe decreasing the mail sent throttle to a smaller number (maybe 10 or 15 per minute allowed), which is easy enough. On top of that I wanted to know if there was any way to disable a mailbox's sending capabilities if it exceeds that limit?

I've been looking around with no luck. A lot of info on how to put on the throttle, but nothing on locking the account or anything of the sort.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, sloth
