Ethernet suddenly cuts out

I have no idea how this happened. My ethernet was working fine for all the time that I've had it, which by now (on my current PC, anyways) is probably a couple years.

However, a couple weeks ago my connection suddenly stopped working after I plugged in a USB device right next to the ethernet cable. My PC would from then forth be disconnected from the wired connection for maybe a minute after boot, and then be back to normal. After some time that issue fixed itself.

However, I plugged in the same USB device a couple days ago, and now the problem is back again, but seemingly tenfold. My PC seems to be stuck at "no connections found", then after a couple minutes or a couple restarts (or both), change to "unknown network". Sometimes it manages to connect, and then everything works fine, until the next restart.

Also, I havent had the USB device plugged in for days now, so I doubt the problem lies with that. (Its a VR headset btw)

I've got no idea what's going on, can anyone help?

I've tried changing to googles DNS, renewing my IP (though it didnt work since it couldn't connect to the adapter when I tried it) and I checked my drivers but they're all up to date...

Edit: I just managed to connect out of sheer luck and tried "ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew and ipconfig /flushDNS" and I connected straight away after a restart. If this happens to anyone in the future, make sure you get a connection before putting these commands into the command prompt and make sure it's running as an administrator (you tell if it says "system32" before the ">")
