Apple G4 Completely Non-Functional After Ram Swap
Hello,
*I have a Apple G4 867 mhz Quicksilver*. I bought them last year (As a side note that might be related to the problem, right after I bought it the power supply fan cageing was rubbing against the fan blades causing it to make a horrible noise, so I bent the shielding back into shape and that mostly fixed the problem.) and after a couple of days I realised to really could use a ram upgrade. I can't find the ram that was in it before, but I can tell you what I swapped it out with, a stick of 256mb, 133mhz ram that at least had the notches in the right places to fit in the G4's ram slot, but after installing it and turning it on the power light illuminated for a short time and then slowly faded out. No display, the fans all came on for a short time, and swapping the old ram back in proved to be to no avail. I tried every stick of ram I had, which didn't help. When I looked up the problem a lot of people talked about pressing the button on the motherboard for a specific amount of time, which didn't help. At the moment I am stuck with a powerlight that momentarily illuminates and the fans spin up and then everything turns off. Thank you for reading and any help very much appreciated.
\---TLDR---
I tried to upgrade the ram and now when I press the power button, the button lights up for a moment and the fans spin up and then the light fades out and everything shuts off. Tried using the button on the motherboard to fix the problem and tried the old ram that was in it to no avail. Thank you for reading and any help very much appreciated.
