Hey everyone! We just acquired a Gskyer Telescope 70mm Aperture 400mm Refracting Telescope from someone who didn't want it anymore. I have some questions below:
I have been able to see the moon with ease at varying magnification. Really blown away with that and the kids thought it was so cool to see the moon up close. I was also able to see Jupiter last night and some of its moons on either side.
It came with a 10mm, 25mm lens, a 3x magnifyer adapter, and a mount for my phone to take pictures. Are there any accessories I should buy?
What are some other objects in the sky this telescope would be capable of viewing that I should attempt to see? I have read that Venus is viewable, but its up during the day and I'm not sure how to get the telescope pointed at it. I am also a bit nervous pointing in the general direction of the sun with no filters.
Lastly, are there any good tips for precisely point it at small things in the sky? It took me a long time to get Jupiter centered up in view. With the moon it is really easy to use the small scope on the side to line it up generally and then make adjustments with the 25mm lens. With Jupiter it seemed impossible for me to see jupiter with the small scope at all.
