Thinking on buying WONY and getting back into the game. Quick question

I still remember all the complaints for months about how absurdly tanky npc's are and how there was extremely little build diversity in higher difficulties (I remember it boiling down to glass canons, hide in cover and play you don't get shot once). I also remember constant talk about really bad bugs, too. Is this still a thing?

Context: played off and on since launch, never bothered buying the expansion since i heard a lot of negativity about it. After a year and it being on sale for $10, I figured it might of gotten better.
