Last of Us Part I and the Mandela Effect

This is an odd bit of trivia I've come across when devoting way more time to arguing with Part II haters than I care to admit to. I know what you're thinking, the title says Part I, but the fact is this is something I've encountered almost exclusively among those defending Joel's actions at the end of Part I as a means of taking shots at Part II.

Anyway. I have encountered what can only be described as an insane number of people who *absolutely insist* that there is a recording in the hospital that you can come across as Joel where "doctors" explicitly say that there *are* multiple immune infected people like Ellie, that they've tried and failed to make a cure repeatedly, that Ellie's samples will make no difference, etc. And I don't think they're faking it. I think they have 100% convinced themselves that this recording exists in spite of all evidence to the contrary.

I have replayed Part I... I don't even know how many times. The PS3 version, the remastered PS4 version, the Part I remake. I have *never* encountered this audio, I have never seen anyone actually playing said audio, especially the people who claim it exists.

Like if you have legit critiques of Part II and don't just hate it because you hero worshipped Joel too hard or Big Muscle Woman Scary, that's fine. But inventing recordings out of thin air is just odd.

(I mean honestly, if they want to use anything that actually does exist to critique the Fireflies' plans for Ellie, they could look at the copy of her bloodwork that actually is there and see that she's showing no real immune response to the cordyceps, which would imply that she's not so much immune as she is coexisting with it somehow...)
