Question on Birch and maple sapling spawns

Are the spawns not guaranteed? Or is the map I'm using possibly outdated? Can somebody perhaps send me an updated maps link, because with the map I'm using it feels like the saplings are only sometimes where it says they are. I know I haven't harvested the majority of them. Yet they're completely missing from the locations they should be
