Should the sequel tone down the comedy?

I enjoy humor in games when it's an addition that you find as you explore; however Outer Worlds plays like a comedy first, like I am role-playing inside the movie '*Idiocracy'* only in space. I will admit finding it a bit jarring, coming into the game I had expected a setting to have a threat that can be taken seriously, and to immerse myself into the characters and plight of the universe.

I get the message of the game, that it pokes fun at us consumers who empower and allow ourselves to be caught up into the corporate web no matter how incompetent or mind-numbingly senseless their practices can be. It's just been hard immersing myself in this setting, I just don't feel threatened by the main opposition when they are a literal joke.

Do you think there should be a tonal shift moving forward?
